Around The Hood

I love our neighbourhood. There are so many huge older trees that even though it was raining when I took these pictures...I didn't have to use an umbrella the trees were so protective.

A lot of peopel don't like these recycling containers but I love them. I like industrial practical things.

I'm amazed, some of these pictures could be a street in England! The 5th and 7th ones particularly.

Hey Shelia, how wonderful to see you. Wehad some friends visit from California...and they were so surprised that our neighbourhood, right in urban Chicago had more trees and greenery than they had in Cali. I guess it's easy to forget the people used to plant a lot of trees when they built these houses.

Beej, hey girl! Love your blog!!! I linked you this morning!!! Rahm Imanuel lives a block from us. Well, until he and his family went to D.C. We used to have his secret service out there all the time till June. I really do love these big ginormous recycling bins. Believe it or not...we only have ONE for our apartment building. We need about five more I think...but it's a start, right? Toronto has organic compost collections from homes...but Chicago hasn't got that yet. We just got these recycling program bins about 8 months ago.

Wow, that's a fancy neighborhood. I bet those single-family houses are expensive. Neat that it's right in the city. And what a city.

What a pretty neighborhood! I like seeing the cans arounds here too - it means people are recycling. There was no recycling around where I visited in Wyoming - it was awful. My friend I visited there is writing a book about caring for our earth, with a workbook to go with it - she was one of the original 1,000 to sit directly under Al Gore . . .

Sure do love all the green there - bet you do too.
