A clip from Ricky jay and His 52 Assisants magic show directed by David Mamet at The Steppenwolf Theatre. Thanks to Deana for turning me on to this one...
When I saw the name Ricky Jay coupled with David Mamet, I said to myself, "That's the guy from the movie House of Games!" Have you seen that movie before Candy? It's one of my favorites. The writing and acting are top-notch, plus it has more twists than a bag of pretzels. The early sequence in the film featuring the poker showdown between the characters played by Ricky Jay and Joe Mantegna is outstanding.
Yes, Malcolm I have seen House of Games...in fact...I own it on video still and want to get it on dvd. I love that movie! I love cards...game theory, tricks (I can't do any magic tricks though) and confidence stories and characters.
i hate you! do you know how long i have just sat here watching clip after clip after bloody clip? this stuff i can (have just) watch for hours! i remember seeing this guy in the mid 80's on a paul daniels show on the bbc! much prefer the close in card stuff to the david coppefield/blane stuff. thanks for this! gonna put some on mine now!
