Fuck Art, Stephen Harper Does

Harper used his party's funding cuts to arts programs to make an unapologetic appeal to working-class Canadians...

"I think when ordinary working people come home, turn on the TV and see a gala of a bunch of people - you know, at a rich gala all subsidized by taxpayers claiming their subsidies aren't high enough when they know those subsidies have actually gone up - I'm not sure that's something that resonates with ordinary people," Harper said.

So that means, my dear fellow Canadian bloggers...Mister Anchovy ...not only is your art studio, and your wife's art studio a waste of time...you just made a music room. Nope...no music room for you!

Stephen Harper says you stink.

And what about Canuck Hockey Girl and Wandering Coyote...I understand you two lovely women have tattoos. Did you know your tattoos, the colours of ink, the images and references in tats have their history associated with the vast history of image making from cave paintings in Lascaux and every painter that laboured over mixing colours and dyes. Contemporary tattoo art relies heavily on all the experimentation and drafting of perspective in drawing especially of the Renaissance.

Stephen Harper has just told you your own tattoos do not resonate with you.

What about Tim Noonan? Should he now quit his job teaching anything to do with art for his elementary school students. Tim, throw away your blog!

Stephen Harper implies learning about art is not relevant.

The last time I looked these four bloggers were ordinary citizens. Just these four bloggers have had art resonate so intensely in their life that they have designated special areas of their homes to art, they have endured painful piercings and inks on their bodies to show how "they get art", and have dedicated their job to sharing lessons in art making.

Should we really fuck art? Or is it maybe that what actually doesn't resonate is Stephen Harper?

We had a minister here, Charles Clarke, who urged cuts in University funding to subjects he deemed not relevant.

Medieval History was one such subject.

Ignorant little man.

There's a possibility he'll lose his seat next time and I'm possibily volunteering my service to the Lib Dems in his seat to help make that happen.

Crushed, I know I love how the politicians think they have to do some budgeting but not to their offices. I mean...why does a politician even need an office. They can have laptops, their assistants can have laptops...and they can meet in coffee shops or basemens of churches or recreation centres. They can take public transit like the rest of us.

Storytelling is a survival tool and the first thing politicians use to pose as "real folks" is cutting anything to do with storytelling...music, art making...but you've got a real winner there with the history lessons being suggested as a cut. Sheesh.

I'm sitting here, saying ahhh, ahhh, ahhhhh, what an ignorant "A.." this politician is turning out to be!!!

Just heard on the TV that our local mental health hospital that serves low income and indigents has cut most of its out patient services, i.e., assistance with medications, case work, monitoring, clinic visits for mental health -

This is truly take from the poor to line the pockets of the rich - kind of like our current "bail out" situation - oh these people are just intolerable in their ignorance and apathy! Oh, yeh, and arrogance.

Anyone reading from the big smoke? Tonight at midnight hold up your art sign for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. In fact even if your not from TO, make a stand with us "ordinary people" against art funding cuts. Harper can kiss my artsss.
