what paint do you use here Candy ? Have you tried screen printing ink ? comes in vibrant colours both glossy and matt finish, very cheap. soluble in kerosene.
we're off....going to read A Basque History of the World on the way and on the way back, Wendy Lesser's His Other Half. If I can find an internet cafe in Caldas da Rainha, I'll try to do a post on m.a. along the way. We're bringing water colour pads and drawing tools..... cheers.
I'm one of those people who don't really understand art, I just know what I like. I think it's fabulous when other people are creative - their choice of medium, subject, and materials says so much. You've done some very interesting pieces!

I noticed that you're guest posting for him while he's away and that you recently saw The Human Behaviour Experiments. Here's the comment I tried to leave in case you're interested:

Four Dinners, that is funny about the song. Well...I like to think that my painting is classical. I was trained in traditional painting as I was a little kid and growing up...and everything I paint is from classical and traditional forms in art and nature...so maybe that's why Caz like's it! Thanks it makes me feel good to have your encouragement.

Karen, I got your comment, and responded at Mister Anchovy's. You're a science person, art and science are very closely tied...try approaching looking at art work, like you do any problem within science?

Rauf, yes, I have used screen printing ink/paint in the past and you're right the colours are incredible. Actually, these paintings of last six months are all in acrylic. I've always been an oil painter actually...it took me a while to enjoy using acrylic, but this looks just like my stuff with oil too. Um, I am aiming towards collecting old paint, like house paint and hobby paints that people want to throw out ar are done with. Of course the colours won't be as nice...and the paint doesn't last as long...but I'd lie tostart to collect some for recycling purposes. Most of the paintings are made from recycled materials...I'd like to try taking that further. Rauf, one of the reasons I'm using acrylic is because of the less smell in a small space...but funny enough Stagg uses oil based all the time, so that might change. I was worried about our neighbours suffering from turpentine/kero smells.
what fun going through this as it is created. The only thing is I wish I could have one of these during each phase of the creation! I need a lesson from you to go from rather reality based art to freedom....
I really like your artwork, Candy, and it's great to see the progress of a piece. Those yellow drips are fantastic. It makes me wonder how they would look the other way up. Not the painting -- just the drips. So you'd create stalagmite-type shapes (rather than stalactite) by dripping down on the painting, but the painting would be hung upside down for the process.
Nacy Drew...good question, um emerald has an old origin which relates to latin and greek "flash, sparkle". I think this is an ancient reference to stars, rather than a jewel of the earth. (hence the green you see is little stars at the top)
*. I'll drip some stuff upside down on this one I'm working on right now...and I'll work your name into the title somehow. After all 8 is a star, no? So it should be good for my references to astronomy. I often have drips going all directions, layered up or upside down or sideways.
Diana, lesson one, don't be afraid of materials, just start messing with them. I used to get my kid to ride over new paper and canvas with her trike so I wouldn't feel performance axiety. It's jsut paper and cloth, and no one can see you!!! And use reality based colour combinations. Besides, you don't need a lesson from me you got oodles of inspiration up your sleeve...just keep on!

I don't drop a ton of remarks, however i did a few searching and wound up here "The Making of The Emerald Tablet Of Hermes-Finished". And I do have a couple of questions for you if it's allright. Is it just me or does it seem like a few of these comments come across like they are coming from brain dead folks? :-P And, if you are writing at other social sites, I'd like to keep up with anything new you have to post. Could you list of the complete urls of all your communal pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

I have the same issue as Karen at Mr. A's site and have her attitude re art (and have lots of it at home too)...am a savage but love the stuff.
