A Gnostic Song and Video

Directed by the amazing Joseph Kahn in 2002, We Are All Made Of Stars, is one of my favourite music videos. It's a lot of fun partly because of all the cool cameos...but it's also one of the worlds most beautiful songs. You can see the following "stars" Kato Kaelin, Verne Troyer, Corey Feldman, Todd Bridges, Gary Coleman, J.C. 'N Sync, Dave Navarro, Sean Bean, Dominique Swain, Ron Jeremy, Thora Birch, Tommy Lee, Molly Sims, Robert Evans, Angelyne, The Toxic Avenger and of course Moby.

Cool song and an even cooler video. That's quite an eclectic mix of cameos!

the thing with moby is, well in this country at least, most of the songs on this album were taken and used for adverts, which made ME kind of feel that a, he had sold out, and b, i was soon sick of hearing them.
good songs, but as the saying goes, familiarity breeds contempt!

I don't have a list, and these days, most of the time, I'd have trouble coming up with even a list of faves that most readers could identify with. Speaking of music, we're going to see Michelle Shocked at Hugh's Room a week from Tuesday. I haven't been to one of her shows since that time in Vancouver in that really nice dance hall, many years ago.

Malcolm, it is an amazing collection of cameos isn't it? I remember the first time I saw it, I was what the hell!? And dying to see it again! My favourite is Robert Evans, the film producer.

Cappy...Well Moby has had an interesting career including what you note in your comments. He had a hit record really rather "late" in life, he's no spring chicken...although his dj mixes were top hits before his own album.

When Play came out...all of a sudden all these people who wouldn't be caught dead listening to techno were buying his record. Like soccor moms...it was a strange sensation from seeing him got from underground and raves to mainstream almost overnight. I got pretty tired of hearing a couple of the songs too at one point.

He also...had EVERY song licenced for commercial release and that had never been done before and they were all used for adverts. They played in Cananda too.

For me...the last thing in the world I expected was amassively wonderful song from Moby by the later albums. I almost fell over whenI first heard this song...it was so profound and so simple and lovely...plus gnostic. (archeoastronomy) I was like...very cool especially with the celebrities appearing like Mythological characters or Greek gods...sweet.

Mister Anchovy, She was at the Commodore where the floor was designed for dancing.

oh boy I could write a huge list...starting with Kookaburra bird songs, cats purring, Bittersweet Symphony, Radio Clash, One, Stardust, a GTO reving, Beautiful, Lightening Crashes, 80's Life, Atlantic City, Southbound Train, Isis, a baby laughing,

I could write a huge list...

Thanks! That would be a fun list to start - so what if we haven't heard of the songs? If we can find a link to one on U Tube - we have fun expanding our musical knowledge and taste!

The song is nice.
