Okay, Are You Sitting Down?

I've been job hunting. No, really. I've gotten a couple of contracts and odd jobs but I'm also looking for a bartending shift here and there and just all kinds of other ideas. I also have a little work here and there on local independent film sets. Very fun! Boy, though...can you ever see how depressed the economy is when you go job-hunting. Chicago is losing businesses and business left right and all around. Some people say the unemployment is two digits, others try to say it's not that bad. We'll see. I'm on my way down to the Viagra Triangle today. My resume is weird because I have a Canadian page, but the first page is volunteer work and references I have from here. Again, we'll see.

:)

Hope you have a great day! Later...

I spend as much of my life as possible sitting down - preferably with a voddy in one hand and a cigarette in the other....

That's why I'm training as a driving instructor. I can sit down ALL DAY!!!! (allright I'll have to hide the voddy and wait until we stop to smoke outside the car but what the hell???)

Train as a driving instructor babe!

Trust me (I'm from Oldham) if Dinners can do it you can with your eyes closed!!!!

(Well...not whe you're teaching obviously)....

Candy, I'm sitting here laughing away because I read 'Are you sitting down?" and I thought, "Oh no. Candy's pregnant." lololol

Good luck on your job search!

Beej, That made me laugh!

Candy, good luck with the job hunt, never easy and sadly you are right about the economic climate just now. I have friends in the UK who are struggling, especially the ones who are self employed, contracts dried up about 18-24 months ago and have yet to pick up again. Anyway persevere and you'll shine through!

Hey guys, it's going pretty good. It's a real thrill to be out and actually talking to people about work. I'm a little giddy and probably in a "gung ho" phase and possibly frightening potential employers. It's a strange sensation though...after bing here and visiting and then waiting for paperwork...I feel giddy. I have never approached job hunting in this mood ever before ha ha!

Hey, Beej, I enjoy a good surprise. I promise though I would word an announcement quite differently for that case ha! After I helped Stagg recover from the vapours. :)

4Dins, I like the idea of teaching driving lessons very much. (I'd be a terrible teacher though, I swear like a pirate) I'm working on a drivers license this week though.

Thanks Andy! Thanks Mister Anchovy! (you've seen me through this phase many time huh?)

Sheila, it's quite shocking here. You see it in places closing down all the time. The good news is I'll try any kind of a job just about. Thank you!

Candy, When the economic downturn begun to hit bad in 2008 I was way out in the South Pacific on the boat and got news late. People started talking about Iceland going bankrupt, and silly me thought of the frozen food shop called Iceland in the UK, never thinking they meant the country :) When I got home it was one big retailer after another disappearing from our high streets, to be replaced by charity shops taking up the unsellable leases on retail space.
Hang on in there.

Good luck in your employment search! By the way, thanks for including the Urban Dictionary link so that I could learn the meaning of the term "Viagra Triangle". The 2nd definition cracked me up.
