Navy Pier Chicago

Does he look like he's having fun, or does he look like he's freaking out because I want to stand up to get a better shot in the carriage? Stagg had never been on the rides here before. I was like, what else is there to do here?

Chicago Vietnam Memorial. Stagg's uncle served and he made it back. This memorial honors those who did not.

The planet produces enough food for everyone to eat. But the way we produce food is our achilles heel. We need to grow more food within urbanc entres. There is a Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver that saves $30,000 a year by growing herbs and vegies on a rooftop patio which clients also utilize as a well, rooftop patio! Now that's thinking. We need to innovate our attitude towards food...and then SHARE IT for god's sake!!! And water. Okay, so our fridge is bare. Poor Stagg, but who can omplain when we have SO MUCH and are so lucky here in America?

So we got pizza. You really have to see it to believe it. The picture below is for The Cappincino Kid and Asterisk. they responded so enthusiatically last time I posted a photo of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. This one is double cheese, mushrooms, pepperoni, bacon and ground beef. I love meat.

Hey, I've been to Navy Pier but couldn't do the ferris wheel. We took a ferry over there from the aquarium, which in all honesty, is one of the best I've been to. I enjoyed Chicago, but whenever I went there it was always insanely hot. I also went to one of the zoos - not the one in the downtown area, the one out a bit. It was very depressing and smelly, and the animals looked depressed, too. Man I love pizza. That one looks amazing.

Does Chicago remember all the atrocities committed in Vietnam ?
Villages destroyed, burnt, women and children brutally murdered, or Agent orange which destroyed the crops for decades, effects of which are still felt ??

My god, dude, that is a serious "pizza pie". You know, Red and I are big pizza fans, but like proper Italian thin crispy pizzas. I'd love to try one like you've got there, just for the experience, but you can really see where that old-time phrase pizza pie comes from. It's really not a pizza at all: it's a freakin' pie!

Stagg looks a bit scared in the ferris wheel, but I don't blame him. I would be too. I don't do ferris wheels and heights. Although I did go on the "London Eye". It was all right.

Also, Candy, I just read your comment at Mr A, about Stagg's drawings. If he doesn't want a blog, maybe he could just set up a Flickr account and put the link in your sidebar?

I think Stagg looks tired, bless him! Especially in the first picture, before the ferris wheel. What are you doing to the poor man, Candy?!? ;-)

I love that we can see your reflection on his shades in a couple of pictures, and that Chicago sky looks so blue!

All, You're right it really is pizza pie. It's not anything like pizza really. It took me awhile to get used to it. I am a thin crust person myself. There are lots of places for thin crust too.

I can really only eat one slice of this pizza.

Asterisk and Red, do you remember The Amazing Race episode where "the models" had to eat deep dish pizza? I had never had it before and thought it was so weird they couldn't eat their pizza...but I can understand now.

Stagg gave the go ahead for photos online. I'll be working on that in the next day or so...Yipppeee! He has two new paintings in storage which we'll likely dig out this weekend and take a quick shot...but I have lots here on the computer too. Heck, I could just walk around the apartment walls.

REd, you are very perceptive. I just looked at that photo, and you're right his posture is way off. He is exhausted. We were going to see a favourite D.J. last night but we were just too beat. We walked all day yesterday...and major grocery shopping...today. We are going to kick back.

Wandering Coyote, hi, I forgot you had been to Chicago before. I haven't made it to either zoo yet. There really is so much to see here...and really we don't do a lot of city tour stuff. Mostly around neighbourhoods etc. I haven't even been to the Feild Museum yet. And I could spend a couple more days at the Art Institute. I only saw about a third of it in May.

Rauf, no mention of the ugly side of war at the Memorial...except there is a tone to the site. Not as overwhelming as the Wall in D.C. (an incredible powerful sculpture the Wall in D.C. like a huge wound slashed through the earth, gave me chills and tears) but still there is a section for Prisoners Of War and Missing In Action. No one here gets out alive. America is still catching up it's respects to that eras soldiers.
