Chicago Prize Fighter and Guitarist, Bo Diddley R.I.P.


I saw Bo Diddley play with The Clash a long time ago. Bo Diddley was the missing link between blues, rock and pop. He will be missed.

I thought Mr. Diddley was a very special performer too, not to mention extremely influential. Do you know anyone not familiar with his Shave and a hair cut two bits rhythm? Not me.

Well, I probably can think of a few people who don't know that particular song...but I think everyone would recognize a "Bo Diddley style riff" if they heard one because every major band has used it! I saw him perform about 3 or 4 times and he was always charming and the crowds loved him.

One thing that I always found cool was that younger artists such as The Clash recognized the genius of Bo Diddley. The Bo Diddley Beat is one of the cornerstones of music. In case you didn't see it, I did a Thursday Thirteen about The Bo Diddley Beat earlier this year. Here is the link:
