Hunting: Jobs, Apartments, Projects

Well, I've been staying pretty busy since getting back. A little known detail about me I am a bit of a workaholic. Yes, I know I am also a lazy slacker too ha ha...I have a lot of contradictions. But really, I love having a project.

Been doing a lot of job hunting, and looking around at what is available for apartments. In the meantime of any hard decisions or action...I like projects. I like having some kind of crazy aim. So...I stripped off the peeling wallpaper in Grandmas kitchen and painted the fresh walls plain white. I got this great product call Dif.

I know weird putting a product on here...but if you've ever had to strip wallpaper...you know what a hell job that can be. A very helpful clerk at the hardware store turned me on to this stuff and it's environmentally friendly! During the heatwave the wallpaper in the kitchen just started loosening up...so I thought wwhat the heck. It was a lot of fun getting the glue off and then washing the walls and then seeing howcrisp the kitchen looks now all shiny bright.

We took down a lot of grandmas tchotchkes and things around the house and packed them up. Moved them into boxes in the basement and pulled out some of the paintings we had, plus the little paintings we had bought in New Orleans, Vancouver from other street arts. Remember the clown cat painting? (I'll post a pic later)

I have also started another project...scraping the old paint off the garage, sanding it, then giving it a new coat of paint. Stagg's parents poopped by the house yesterday as I had just scrounged some vintage velvet chairs in the garbage down the alley, and was half way through cleanign up the garage. They were so surprised that we were working on the place and doing so much work. It was pretty funny, they didn't know I was such a Martha Stewart type.

I got a couple books from my sister in Vancouver that they were getting rid of and one of them is a lovely French cookbook with awesome photos. I found a recipe for some of the food we ate at Atoine's in New Orleans....so I might get going on some of those recipes once the weather breaks. It was pretty much torture working on these projects in the ehatwave and I must have lost my mind...but I love seeing the before and after of such projects.

I want to get a wading pool for such days...

Okay....I'm back to apartment and job hunting...later...

I think tchotchkes is a great word too, but I never knew how it was spelled.

Hmm wonder if you can get that over here... my preferred produce is good old elbow grease :-)

Hey Wandering Coyote, it's a lovely word isn't it? And sums up exactly what they are ha ha!

Mr. A, I can murder any word...so I sure wouldn't go by how I spell lol. My mother had a dictionary of Yiddish when I was growing up...and that is how it was spelled in there though...

Orejonejo! Oh my god, you are welcome to come over...it's such a long way you'd probably have to sleep over . We hope to get a wading pool and fire pit...then the back yard would be more fun. Right now we are just enjoying the air conditioning...weren't those the craziest storms we've been having with this killer heat?

Furtheron, I am a great believer in elbow grease too...I think that is pretty much the best way to do housework...but it was great to find this product. Do you have some hideous wallpaper to get rid of?

NBR, odd, I don't think of either an apartment or housing and jobs as being definign parts of life...but they sure are handy right? Ha ha!

Oh, post some pics! I used to do what you do - get it on, and transform a room. But the heat - yep its killer heat - I don't even want to go outside down here! And school is about to start. Had S. all summer. Much to say, but can't here. The time is flying. I hope doors open for you - job, apartment, its been a strange, fierce year - - - in many ways!

Yes, Gardenia, a fierce year indeed. The heat seems to have broken today. It's been a rerally crappy heatwave and made it difficult to go outside here too. Today is very wonderful, in fact so far, a perfect summer day. I should be able to get a lot done outside. I look forward to catching up on news...and hopefully we can talk on the phone soon.

I'm curious to find out what blog platform you are utilizing? I'm experiencing some minor security problems with my latest site and
I would like to find something more safe. Do you have any recommendations?
