I'm With The Band

Stagg and Mister Anchovy busked outside a market downtown Toronto, and this is them rehearsing the night before.

This little boy was so cute, when Mr.Anchovy asked if he wanted to touch the buttons he just lunged towards the acordion. So sweet.

Here in India you'd find such amazing talent on the streets Candy. Musicians or artists.
Very sharp and crisp pictures.
Enjoy the Sun Candy

In the first pic of Mr Anchovy (I assume he is the guy with the pale green T), he looks remarkably like the actor Rémy Girard (but about 10 years younger).

There is a renowned accordion-making centre (Castelfidardo) near my hometown in Italy, maybe he's heard of it? Maybe his accordion comes from there!

Rauf, I never knew or thought of that kind of busking and performance happening in India. I would probably love all that. I believe my friends from Zero Graqvity Circus have worked street performing in India though. I know they spent time partying in goa...the rivirea of the "burning man corwd".

Red, yes that is good ol Mister anchovy in the pale green shirt. I am in a hurry every time I blog these days feeling self conscious about using someone elses computer so I haven't been using the photo option I am used to and not taking care to caption the photos, sorry. I am in a studio now and have lots of time this week. I'll try to clean up m previous posts.

Yes, I am aware of the Italian acordion factory and so is Mr. a. I believe he covets those acordions. He has several but not the eldorado of acordions YET.

I was hoping that the folks I had taken pictures of the last couple weeks would drop by to identify themselves. but I hope they stopped by to see their photos, I appreciate their generosity in allowing me to post their photos. I had a great conversation with the fellow in the photo of the couple. He sat next to me while the boys were playing and his wife was shopping. I think Stagg was getting jealous! :)

I have all these postcards I hand painted with my blog address that I hand out or leave in cafes or bookstores or to people on the street...hopeful for their visits or phot identification.

What fun you must be having! I love the photos!

Hey you know what I always thought would be funny. You know how mimes are always stuck in those invisible boxes...? And, you know how people love to tease a mime? Well what if two mimes worked it out so that one mime would be doing the whole stuck in a box routine and the second guy would come up and pretend to heckle him...the heckler would be able to talk and would taunt him about being a mime and how he couldn't even get out of a fake box. The first mime would pretend to ignore him at first but when he couldn't take it any more he would stop acting like he was in a box and he would mime like he was casting a spell on the heckler and then walk away after making some derogitory gesture. The heckler would laugh like he had gotten the best of the mime and as he attempted to walk away he discovers that he himself was now trapped in an invisible box and that he was no longer able to talk...

I would love to visit Castelfidardo. The button box I'm playing in these pictures though, is a vintage Hohner, made in Germany 30+ years ago. Hohner has since relocated their factory to China. I have my eyes on an Italian made button box, though, made by Guerini....I don't know if they are located in Castelfidardo or elsewhere. The Italians still craft the best accordions...the exception might be for Cajun boxes....the best ones are made by local craftsmen in Louisiana. Cheers.
