Vintage Dior For The Girl's Handbook

These photos are especially for The Girl's Handbook a blog I enjoy! Look at beautiful Dior...who had a special connection with Chicago...setting up a studio to make the clothing more accessible by being made in America avoiding the shipping and taxes of sending clothes from France. All of these dresses were worn/owned by Chicagoans.

Chicago The New

We stopped into the Chicago Historical museum to see a retrospective of Ed Paschke, a local painter. I did not see so much of his stuff before and really loved his paintings from the last twenty years. (I didn't like his 80's paintings) He really got his groove on in the last twenty years. He died two years ago, and the museum had recreated his studio with his brushes and paints and collage sources. I got very choked up seeing his studio tools. It was too real. Felt sad to see his brushes there in a glass case.

Low Riders were invented in Chicago. Apparently, many modern items were invented in Chicago including Kraft dinner, Sears catalogue, Cracker Jacks, after Nazi's banned the Bauhaus movement, the designers were invited to Chicago, , Playboy magazine, testing the atomic bomb, Arts and Crafts Movement (Frank Llyod Wright) and my god, the birth control pill...which brings us right back to the Low Riders.

A very cool painting of President Lincoln who hails from Illinois. Can you see my reflection?

The actual bed Lincoln died in, and a painting of him dying in his bed. I found this touching. The bed was too small for Lincoln and he had to be laid in it diagonally.

Sorry about the gallery lights. I shouldn't even have been taking pics, but my flash was off. Close up of painting of Lincoln dying in his bed.

Did you know it's good luck to rub Lincoln's nose?

Sky High

Wondering if this worked to force the first big letter to span about five lines. Yes, I am still practicing html and little tricks so I am writing just aimlessly to make this into a long sentence or paragraph blah blah blah...

Nas - Who Killed It?

Can`t Forget About You

We've been playing this album all last night etc. This song doesn't have a video yet, but it's fucking awesome! This song makes Stagg wanna go put on his Timberlands...who can make a song like this, it's so magic mixed up like this...I think this album cover photo is so good. It's taken from inside a grave.

Bra Shopping

See the drippy paint paint on the curved wall of that building. I wonder what that is from..an old advert? An old mural worn away before the construction of that newer building..?
The only people I know who like bra shopping are drag queens. I love having new knickers and bras, but the process is deep dark pathos. At one point Stagg is staring at the ground, there are twenty 8 year olds fighting over underwear on sale (what was that some loser birthday party activity?) and with a huge poster of Giselle ina bikini behind me while a woman takes my measurements. I couldn't feel more dejected unless I was actually trying on bikinis in public.
Stagg buying a salad spinner. I think this means he's officially metrosexual. The rest of the afternoon he kept saying "we bought a salad spinner". As soon as I snapped this photo, our sales representative said " No photographs in Bloomingdales." (do you think this is for preventing "display theft"?)

The quote on the wall of this window display says" All I really want is sugar." Andy Warhol.
Very strange feeling boarding this party bus. Lots of fun getting settled and watching other people get on da bus and see their reaction:I must have looked like that too! This was serious holiday decor, they must just keep this bus in a garage the rest of the year and pull it out as a surprise for passengers at this time of year, circulating it's various routes. Music was blaring. This was a professional job.
Survived the bra shopping. Got some great stuff. Well, see it feels good once your toys are home. I should have been born a guy. I hate shopping, I drink beer, and I don't like to talk about my feelings.
