Mister Anchovy, I think they might be a lot of fun at a dinner party too...especially Bjork. I am sure that a lot of people would feel peculiar after seeing Barney's films...they are pareculiar. This one is like the story of boy meets girl, boy attracted but afraid of real looking woman, so powerful, boy meets another girl, but aha! girl has disguised herself as safe girl...turns out to be powerful wildcat after all, ha ha.
L.M. yes, I was very happy to find several things of Matthew Barney's on youtube, way fun. His work makes David Lynch's seem pedestrian, and completely tangible. funny how much stary you can take away and peoples brains will always make meaning. Meaning is the easiest part of making art and film.
er. does it mean that i am really stupid if i say i just don't get it? no. really. i don't understand one bit of it. and it had boobies in it too! hmmm.
Cappy, thanks for your link to your music!!! Yippee!!! Um, I don't think some things are meant to be "understood" in a logical intellectual way. I see these works by Matthew Barney as poems...and think it's best to just let them wash over you...not to worry about thinking of them as a homework assignment.
I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
