I’m attending some amazing panels at theSouthwest Conference For Popular Culture.
These two presentations were about re-watching films. Comparing the 8 year span between Dances With Wolves (1990) and Smoke Signals (1998). See how in DWW the Native representations is in the background and in SS the Stars are fully represented. #swpaca2018
One of the significance of this presentation is that despite the high concept of some “good” movies.... they are in the same space on graphs as lower concept movies. For example the readability of The Graduate is close to the readability of a Transformers. What? Reading test programs like “fog” were used to access reader grade of movies.
