Washington, D.C.

A very tired Stagg after "riding the dog". We were able to hook up with my Brother in law, who is a national reporter for CBC and working here this week. We have had a great time so far!

View outside our hotel room...that is the Potamac River in the distance near trees and bridge.

Thats Stagg walking near a really awesome sculpture in the National Museum...it is made out of coat hangers, the kind you get from dry cleaners!

Stagg, and my brother in law, Greg inside the Jefferson Memorial...

Stagg and Greg on the steps of the Washington Memorial. It is really beautiful. I didn't think anything could compete with the Vietnam Memorial or the Lincoln Memorial, but this was beautiful. It is set on a tidal basin.

Question what is the tidal basin in Washington D.C. is it like a brine? Is it from the ocean?

Also...last night I really really wanted to go to the Watergate Hotel for a drink. We walked all around the site, and it is super cool design. As we approached the bar...there several window tinted security style SUVs. Four secret service agents were standing outside the bar entrance. Inside a conference room with a glass door were a dozen "suits". We wondered...who was in there? I will send a small painting to the visitor who guesses who I saw at the Watergate last night...

I have to say I have no idea who you saw but a very fascinating adventure. Stagg looks very tired on this journey you are on.. Hopefully you two are getting plenty of sleep when needed.

Whoooo - not Obama?

Looks like a wonderful visit to Washington - I've never been but would like to see it all someday. The sculpture is beautiful - looks like a cross between snowflakes (in the picture anyway) and white birds -

Going to miss you - all alone here for 3 days...I dropped you an email...

Have fun, you adventurers!

Hey Candy,
Was it Nelson Mandela? I know he is here this month.

(1) In order to get into the Watergate bar, you have to break in like everybody else.

(2) You've made Georgetown sound like heaven on Earth.

Heh heh, no now Nelsen Mandela, or Obama...I might have fainted, Pjazzypar. Think about "the other side"...

X.Dell, well, I really do love D.C. I love the way there is a museum for everything! And actually, the museums architecture themselves often over power and outshine the contents of some of the museums. We had some great meals in D.C. I love the mall and people, kids families, cricket players all taking use of the massive open spaces. Are we gonna meet for coffee? I better give you a phone call this morning huh?

Also that hanger thing is cool. Sorry my brain is fried from working. I got plenty of sleep but trying to find the words sometimes is hard after a night at work.

Cool pics, Candy.

I wouldn't mind having a look at Washington, DC. I used to love The District and The West Wing, so I feel like I know bits and pieces of the town already, like they're part of our collective subconscious.

I get the impression that everything is massive there, am I right? Like, spaces, monuments, greens areas...

Candy Minx said...

Pjazzypar...you're warmer!

Red, D.C. is massive. the White house actually seems smaller than it's Hollywood representation. almost cozy! but the monuments and memorials are HUGE! Americans really do have monuments down, they know how to make the

Dick Cheney? I am running out!

Pjazzypar, you tried so hard, I should send you a small painting anyways!

Condoleeza Rice!

Pjazzypar...let's exchange e-mail nd when I get home I;'ll make you a parcel.

Rice lives in the Watergate. When I saw her Stagg was telling me not to gawk, but I couldn't help it.

Hi. You remind me exactly my impressions from Washington. Especially the hangers statue. That place is really cool. Have your café at the Watergate hotel. Good luck!
