Classy Bougie Rachet

Yes! We went out for a wonderful supper with our friend Allen..who we had lunch with in June, 2021...in Pensacola. But tonight we found a great french restaurant in downtown Albuquerque. Tomorrow the conference begins...home early to sleep to be ready for my presentation tomorrow at noon.

So good to be resisting the pandemic, mask wearing and trying to find a way to move forward!

Allen my love you look marvelous!

Route 66 2022

What is more pop culture than a diner? Our friend Rick asked us to take a picture of the Pez collection for him when we get to Alburqueque. I was super excited to get a chocolate malt hands down the best chocolate malt I've ever had...and I've had a LOT. I took a picture of the booth we all often sit in when we meet up at the Southwest Popular/American Association conference.

It was just sort of sad to look over at the booth and see it empty..we have often had 10 of us cram into that booth and order up chicken fried steaks and malted shakes. The conference is going to be missing a few people still adjusting to life in pandemic. Last year the conference took place on a zoom format of sorts. It was great but I can't wait to see other people!

ISome Images Handout In My Presentation At Conference

I usually like to give a handout when I present a paper at conferences. I don't use "powerpoint" for reasons not that interesting...mainly because I like multi-media...with hand-held objects. I've made sculptures and maquettes as aids to my papers, or large handmade graphs and signs. My writing is within art history discipline...even though it is interdisciplinary topics and interversal. If you would like to read this paper...and see what these images have to do with Cormac McCarthy...you can read it on my Patreon page. Even the smallest pledge...which helps support me writing the book these essays belong to....allows you access to my writing as it develops into the book. And actually...there is a specific photo I include that links these images directly to McCarthy's work.

Art For Southwest Popular/American Culture Assocoation Conference

Stagg and I always have a vending table at the #SWPACA and this year we have brought a lot of smaller pieces that fit into carry-on luggage. We also have merch from my podcast....I'll post pics when we set up our table later. In one of these photos is a painting of a backpack with a unicorn saying "Hello Unicorn" I wonder if anyone will recognize where that is from?
