The Lebowski videos are awesome, especially the first one. The brilliance of the movie lies in it's dialogue, and the repetition of the same words & phrases over and over again, being picked up by other characters. The Dude himself has to borrow from other people's lines because he's so out of it, yet the characters are all are connected through their use of language. It's genius! Thanks for those - they were fun to watch! The Big Lebowski is in my top 3 all time favourite movies list!
TBL is a staple around here too Wandering Coyote. Even all these years later. You're so right about the way language and knowledge and community functions in the story of TBL and the characters. An amazing extension of the langauge spread through to fans and viewers of the movie too. So many people adapted the dialogue into their lives after seeing the movie. I thought "Where's The Rum" was an hilarious remix.
