Texas Monthly November 2006: Agent of Change is an article about the possible replacement of Donald Rumsfeld, Robert Gates. Gates is a nomination until the new governemnt approves or not of his value. Robert Gates was associated with the Iran-Contra scandal, although he was not charged. Allegedly since he was high up in CIA affairs he would have been aware of the movements of money and arms. He has also been criticised for not seeing the end of the cold war, or, Iraq invading Kuwait. In 1991, he became head of the CIA.
Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said he hoped Gates will take "a fresh look at the situation" and move to correct "the mistakes of the past." McCain said he hoped the new secretary will expand the regular Army and Marine Corps to take the strain off reserve and National Guard units now serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Obviously, we have to involve other nations in the region to try to help resolve the situation, and of course we need to seek as much bipartisan participation as we can in working on this issue," said McCain, who has said he lost confidence in Rumsfeld long ago." From here.
We can't fault Robert Gates for not prediciting the end of the Cold War and the Berlin Wall coming down. Let's face it, suits may have all the money, but they do not have their pulse on the people. It was Rock and Roll and young people who tore down the wall.
Don't forget, people have the real power. That's you baby.

Power to the People!
Let's hope the people continue to speak up and they don't bury their heads in the sand.
how to grab cappy's attention, slip in a who reference.
Well, they are doing a lot of "hoping" aren't they? You betcha - power to the people. We just need to realize how much we have. I've been visiting Iranian blogs off and on and you would not believe the underground network of the people! I guess its the young who have the guts, huh? I remember the hippy days and the demonstrations to death for what they believed. However, back then the press covered those things. If we had a demonstration now and police were beating the demonstrators, just how much would the press show in these days?
I could get on a soap box about the press, I could.
