Oddly, this old building burned down last week, and it is the second building in six months to burn down by the architects Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler. The other one was the Pligrim Babtist Church(Blues Bros filmed there). I was just noticing the architects, maybe it's not weird, as they made a lot of buildings in Chicago...but still it drew my attention when I researched this fire last week.
This site is right in the heart of a lot of downtown art schools like Columbia the Tute(where Stagg went) and the university of DePaul. When we were watching the fire fighters tons of students have been sitting around too they had to close their schools. The tracks in the back ground are the "loop" the area where all the El trains turn and repeat their routes.
At least they're not paving paradise and putting up a parking lot, which is the first thing that came to mind before reading your explanation.
I didn't know lots of your titles were links. It's not always obvious on some of bloggers templates. Same with mine. They should do something about that - like make the title a different colour if it contains a link.

How sad! I am a rabid believer in rehab of the old. How sad!
